
The Japan Foundation IPS Grant (PI Frühstück, Co-PI Jessica Nakamura) is designed to fund a multi-layered project titled “Japanese Culture En Route: Transnational Connections in Japanese Performance Traditions.” Generously matched by UCSB, the grant will enable a new tenure track junior faculty hire in transnational Japanese Studies in the Department of East Asian Languages & Cultural Studies, as well as funding three Critical Intervention Labs to be organized by Professor Fabio Rambelli (2020), Professor Naoki Yamamoto (2021), and Professor Jessica Nakamura (2022), along with 4 graduate student summer research or advanced intensive language study grants per year.
